Official Mover of NCCU Football

Tru-Pak's presentations of NCCU Eagles postgame reports are a continuation of our dedicated support of NCCU Sports. Back in August 2011, Tru-Pak became "The Official Mover of NCCU Football" and visibly celebrated this honor with the unveiling of a gorgeous new 28-foot NCCU Eagles/Tru-Pak truck - the newest addition to Tru-Pak's fleet of 200 trucks. This truck is used to transport the Eagles football equipment to away games and visibly promotes the NCCU Eagles when driven across the country for other moves. Go Eagles!

Tru-Pak Celebrates 30 Years of Serving the Girl Scouts of Western North Carolina

Girl Scout Gold Award

Tru-Pak is a family company grown by John and Pat Siegel over 50 years ago. When their family expanded to include twin girls, Allyson and Mimi, the Girl Scouts became an important activity in the twin's early life, along with helping out at Tru-Pak.

Now Allyson Siegel is all grown up and vice-president of Tru-Pak, still run by John and Pat Siegel, alongside her sister Mimi in customer service. They have not forgotten their involvement with the Girl Scouts and are both active in numerous humanitarian organizations personally and through Tru-Pak. Giving back to the community is a cornerstone of this family and company.  Allyson and Mimi are especially proud to continue Tru-Pak's 30 years of supporting the “Girl Scouts - Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont” through storing/shipping cookies and generously supporting various programs with donations.

Girl Scouts - Carolinas Peaks to PiedmontThe Girl Scouts - Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont serves a diverse membership of more than 16,000 girls in 40 counties in central and western North Carolina. As they say on their website, "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place." I know the Tru-Pak family can attest to their benefit and great cookies!

Tru-Pak's Kelsey Isenhower Announces 2012 NCMA Scholarship Recipient at NCMA Conference

Kelsey IsenhowerIn August, 2012, Kelsey Isenhower presented the 2012 North Carolina Movers Association (NCMA) four-year scholarship recipient on behalf of the scholarship committee at the NCMA conference banquet. As the deserving recipient of the 2011 NCMA Scholarship, Kelsey did a wonderful job announcing the 2012 winner to the Conference attendees, exuding the poise and intelligence inherent in a scholarship winner.

NCMA awards the yearly scholarship to a North Carolina high school senior or currently enrolled college student who is an employee, spouse, child or grandchild of a full-time employee or principal of a member company of the NCMA. The deserving student(s) is chosen because they "best demonstrate how their education will be utilized in pursuing a career in their chosen field.” For more details, click on NCMA Scholarship.

Tru-Pak Employee Inspires Middle School Children's Future with Our "Tru-Pak/NCCU Football" Official Partnership

Daryll PerkinsMay, 2012, Daryll Perkins (left), a long-time Tru-Pak Moving System employee, volunteered his time to educate and inspire the next generation at the Mills Park Middle School Truck Fair in Cary, North Carolina. Daryll gave a wonderful presentation to the children about all the career opportunities in trucking and athletics, while standing alongside the new Tru-Pak/NCCU Football Truck (below left).

Official Mover of North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Football

As the "Official Mover of North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Football,” the eye-catching truck promotes the NCCU Eagles football program when it's not being used to haul equipment to their away games. Daryll spoke to the children about everything involved with coordinating these moves, as well as all the different careers that support an athletic team - decal artists, advertising executives, movers, truck owners, moving coordinators and athletic staff, as well as the athletes. Many children learned for the first time that they could be involved in sports without being an athlete. Read more of the children's touching insights below:

Tru-Pak Moves NASCAR's Junior Johnson ... Another Famous Move!

Tru-Pak Moves NASCAR's Junior JohnsonIn May, 2012, Tru-Pak Moving Systems proudly moved NASCAR legend Junior Johnson from his mansion in Yadkin County, North Carolina, to Charlotte's upscale Quail Hollow neighborhood.

The move was instigated by a life-threatening staph infection Johnson developed following back surgery in March. "The infection almost got me. I came close to not making it," Johnson said. "For 35 minutes or so, I was essentially dead. The doctors worked desperately with me and finally I came back around."

In the 1940s and 50s, Johnson made his living running moonshine. That speed drove Johnson to NASCAR. He amassed 50 victories as a driver and 132 wins and six cup series championships as a team owner.

Tru-Pak is proud to have helped Junior Johnson settle into his new home, stress-free. The fact that we own our fleet of over 60 trucks makes us the ideal choice for important, large-scale and famous moves. From Jay Leno to Madonna to former President George W. Bush, Junior Johnson has great company with his choice of moving company - Tru-Pak Moving Systems.

We send our thoughts and prayers to Junior Johnson for a speedy recovery and a relaxed retirement in his new Charlotte home!

Tru-Pak Makes Worldwide News With Our Award-Winning Fleet of Kenworth Trucks

Tru-Pak Moving Systems was featured in Kenworth Trucks' spring 2012 Newsletter, distributed worldwide. In the article, "Reliable, Efficient Movers," Kenworth details our fleet of award-winning and environmentally friendly Kenworth T700s trucks with PACCAR MX engines.

Tru-Pak is one of the few large-scale moving companies that actually own their trucks. What John & Patricia Siegel began in 1960 with one truck and a dream has grown into one of the largest independent moving companies on the East Coast, with a fleet of over 60 trucks making 40,000 yearly moves across the U.S. and overseas. Still family-owned and family-run, Tru-Pak's long-term success is due in part to the quality of their equipment. Of the 60-plus Kenworth trucks that Tru-Pak owns, 16 are the new aerodynamic Kenworth T700s with low-emission PACCAR MX engines, which the American Truck Dealers (ATD) named the "2011 Heavy Duty Commercial Truck of the Year.”

"It's nice to know that there's a quality piece of equipment that fits our needs and we can standardize on," Tru-Pak said, "From the ergonomics, to the backlit gauges, to the electronics and wiring, I've always been a Kenworth fan. Providing the right tools and a nice work environment helps our drivers be more productive on the road. We want to project a good image, too, and Kenworth certainly does that for us."

Kenworth also beats other trucks hands-down for reliability and environmental impact. They are the only truck manufacturer to receive the EPA's "Clean Air Excellence Award" for their environmentally friendly products. Tru-Pak plans to convert their entire fleet to Kenworth T700s trucks with MX engines. Low cost of operation, good fuel economy, less maintenance and fewer emissions are as important to Tru-Pak as they are to our customers and the world. Such attention to quality, reliability and environmental impact is "The Tru-Pak Difference."

Kenworth Truck Company is the manufacturer of "the world's best" heavy-duty and medium-duty trucks. Kenworth is an industry leader in providing fuel-saving technology solutions that help increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Please visit www.kenworth.com to learn more about this great company - our partners and our friends. To read more about our commitment to Kenworth and the environment, read the entire article here.

On April 29th, 2012, Tru-Pak Moving Systems was proud to continue its commitment to giving back by helping our neighbors and friends as title sponsor of the 2012 "Raising Hope Dinner" benefitting the Hope Center at Pullen. This unique non-profit provides targeted services and programs for ending and preventing homelessness in Wake County, North Carolina.

The Hope Center at Pullen provides two specialized programs: a Job Readiness Program (for adults who have been chronically homeless) and a new Youth Foster Program (for young adults, ages 17-22, who have aged out of foster care and are statistically most at-risk for homelessness and abuse). In each program, willing participants receive one-on-one guidance while collaborating with a team to set personal goals in three areas: job readiness and career development, education/trade enhancement and mental health/mentoring. With weekly guidance, accountability and a team of support, the Center helps bridge the gap from homelessness to hope to success.

Ashley, Hope Center at Pullen "Foster Care Program" Participant"They made me believe in myself again...I can call them any time...and I know they'll be there for me."  - Ashley, a Hope Center at Pullen "Foster Care Program" participant, has maintained a home and job for over 1.5 years. Read about Ashley's story here.

Thanks to Tru-Pak Moving Systems, the table sponsors, volunteers and our generous community, the "Raising Hope Dinner" raised hope, spirits and $34,000 to help continue the programs and services essential for changing lives for the long term. Tru-Pak is proud of its sponsorship of this event, as well as their long relationship with the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, since community involvement is one of the pillars of the Siegel family and their company.

Tru-Pak and The Foundation for Lilly & Friends Sponsor the Unchaining of a Dog Named Sarge

Coalition to Unchain DogsOn August 15, 2010, Tru-Pak employees and "The Foundation for Lilly & Friends" sponsored the unchaining of the dog Sarge. The donation covered the costs of a vet appointment, spay/neuter/vaccinations and fence materials to improve the welfare of dogs living outdoors on chains. Some facts: The American Veterinary Medical Association warns that chaining a dog can contribute to aggressive behavior; The US Department of Agriculture prohibits chaining as the primary means of confinement under the Animal Welfare Act; the Center for Disease Control states that chained dogs are 2.8 times more likely to bite than unchained dogs. To donate or volunteer, check out the "Coalition to Unchain Dogs" at http://www.unchaindogs.net.

Tru-Pak Congratulates VP Allyson Siegel

On May 15, 2010, Tru-Pak Moving System's Vice President, Allyson Siegel, completed her Masters with honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Tru-Pak VP Rescues Five-Legged Puppy From Freak Show

Lilly and Friends FoundationOn July 18, 2009, Tru-Pak Moving System's vice president, Allyson Siegel, saved Lilly, a 5-legged-puppy, from being sold to a Coney Island freak show. Although Allyson was more of a cat person, she was desperate to save the puppy from such dire circumstances after hearing about the story on the local news. While Allyson paid a significant amount to the original owner for the puppy, the freak-show owner pursued a legal battle to reclaim Lilly and her fifth leg. The ensuing legal battle was even televised on New York's Judge Judy program. The puppy's story captured the hearts of people within the United States and throughout the world! Even before the court room verdict was decided, Lilly had an expedited surgery to successfully remove her fifth leg as well as the interest of the freak-show owner. Little Lilly rebounded in days and was seen running for the first time in her short but dramatic life.

In honor of Lilly and other animals facing abusive living situations, Allyson started the "Lilly and Friends Foundation." We at Tru-Pak are very proud of the character and courage of Allyson to make a difference felt around the world!
